Density of glass
Jan 14, 2025
The density of glass is generally 2.5 tons/cubic meter, but this is only the density of ordinary glass.
Glass is a commonly used material, which is widely used in construction, transportation, electronics, medical and other fields because of its unique physical and chemical properties. The density of glass varies depending on the type and composition. The main component of ordinary glass is silicon dioxide (SiO2), as well as other chemicals, such as sodium, calcium, and aluminum oxides. After melting at high temperatures, these components are cooled and solidified to form glass. Since glass is a mixture and an amorphous solid, it has no fixed melting point and its density changes with its composition
